I don’t touch old grounds either – they simply get knocked out like yours into the compost bin. Would love to be able to afford a Saeco someday…

I have a Krups espresso machine. Like other espresso machines, it takes no more than 30 seconds to brew the cup, then you have to dump out the puck, wash the portafilter and generally clean up a bit. Or maybe it’s some other type of machine not an espresso machine.

I’ve gone to a small fully automatic Saeco now, and I am glad that I don’t touch coffee grounds any more, other than dumping out the used pucks. It’s just as easy as a Keurig (easier if I would have picked apart the used K-cups for recycling) and much more interesting to my taste.

Why are you settling for characterless coffee and then doing the tedious work of picking apart the k-cup leftovers? This Keurig coffee maker is way overpriced, it should cost $20.

For a few hundred dollars, just about twice the cost of a Keurig machine, you can get a small fully automatic espresso machine. Just like the Keurig you do no work. You also don’t have to pick apart used K-cups afterward, and you can buy whole coffee beans. The machine does all the grinding and brewing, and you can compost the used grounds.

That’s only one reason to brush teeth, and it’s an important one. However the other important reason for brushing teeth is to remove the plaque that forms on the teeth overnight. So I brush when first awakening to remove that scuzzy feeling of plaque and then again just after I eat breakfast to remove food debris. It also sweetens my breath so if I have someone to kiss good morning it’s more pleasant for them.

There’s no such thing as too much brushing. (grin)

Yes, I brush my teeth while my coffee is “brewing” or whatever it’s doing while it’s dripping out of my Krups. My coffee tastes divine, thanks for asking.๐Ÿ˜‰

Waht ?
You ” grind my coffee beans, scoop the freshly ground coffee into my little Krups espresso machine, and then go brush my teeth while it brews for two minutes and 10 seconds total”

I don’t understand what you’re doing, Carolyn.

Do you “brew” coffee in an expresso machine ? Either you percolate it and it shouldn’t be that long, or you brew it and that’s not in an expresso machine. ANd you brush your teeth before? Before? what does your coffee taste like after the mint chemistry? Are you American? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I use very mildly roasted single coffee farm beans (expensive but less than Nespresso) that I prepare in a “French press” coffee maker. Difficult to find an affordable expresso machine that works, in my country. I brush my teeth after eating, not before. Remember it’s to brush away food debris !

Those who do recycle/compost the cup components are to be congratulated, but even the reusable cups have unfortunately not prevented the sale and waste of billions of these non-recyclable single-serve cups.

But to the responsible and environmentally aware consumer, we take it apart and compost/recycle the parts. But you never considered that some people might do that. You just made a generalization that everyone throws them in the trash. There are also companies who are producing biodegradable cups for these machines. So maybe instead of making a blanket statement that these machines are bad, it would be more productive and effective to bring to awareness that there are options to throwing them in the garbage.
