Apple may be able to get away without focus groups when they invent new categories, but with practical apps aimed at patients, the basics of talking to patients about what works for them and what doesn’t (make it easy, make it automatic, don’t add another burden) seem to be forgotten.

The other self-tracking that has been around for decades is the bathroom scale. Impact on the obesity crisis? None.
