For that reason, it is excellent that he participates within the ryder cup. His personal matters have nothing to do with his brilliant game of golf. It is foolish to believe that Tiger Woods has no weak points. He is only a real human.

This ad has truly pushed Tiger’s creepiness-factor to a new low.

It was clear that what he was truly sorry about was getting caught in the first place.

And why mention Elin’s name twice in the same sentence as the word “blame”? No woman on earth “blames” Elin for what she may or may not have done to Tiger’s head with that golf club – other than perhaps she didn’t use quite enough fury in “rescuing” him from the crashed vehicle that night?

When athletes of this calibre sign mega-contracts to be corporate spokesmen, they must surely be aware that they are now representing the brand, and no brand wants to be associated with a real life loser.

The question is: will this incident fade from the memory of all those corporations who might otherwise choose Tiger as their spokesman? I think not.

Thank you for this thought-provoking piece.

There are people and world events far more worthy of our attention and focus than this guy.

People have short memories. I predict that when this guy returns to golf, fans (and potential corporate sponsors) will once again get caught up in watching the best golfer in the world, and before you know it, this scandal will be but a dim memory.

Remember Bill and Hillary and Monica? Just barely….

Even when he returns to golf (and that will definitely happen sooner than the ‘one year off’ that he promised) – his image, as Mr. O’Reilly states, is tainted forever.

Other celebrities may have survived similar scandals, but can you name any who have then been courted by corporate sponsors to represent their brand after the scandal dies down? I can’t.

What major company will stick with somebody who’s become the butt of late-night humour, no matter how good an athlete he may be? You just don’t want the name of your company linked in the same sentence with this guy.

Excellent work here, Carolyn – thanks for this.
