Pro Bono – “These financial penalties unfortunately are ‘too little, too late’ – just the “cost of doing business” for a rich drug company”. So true! One wonders then what penalties, if any, would be truly meaningful for these rich drug companies? They must seem like tiny pesky mosquito bites, nothing more.

There is so much money at stake – more than we can even imagine – that it seems these companies will stop at nothing to do what needs to be done to retain market share.

This drug company should not get off with simple court penalties on a family-by-family basis. Why are there not criminal charges being laid against them? Love your site, smart and informative. Thanks for telling us about these cases.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. I believe that we have/will have no idea of the full extent of the undeclared/undiagnosed damage that Vioxx causes. These financial penalties unfortunately are ‘too little, too late’ – just the “cost of doing business” for a rich drug company. We need to enact criminal legislation to get the attention of senior pharma staff before anything meaningful will change.
