It can be hard for those who’ve never experienced crippling anxiety attacks to appreciate how truly debilitating and life-changing this diagnosis can be. The decision to not take your Paxil and plunge back into the agony of symptoms can terrify many pregnant women. That, and they trust doctors who tell them it’s okay to keep taking it.

Thanks for this excellent overview of the Paxil case – it has helped raise awareness ever since.

Paxil just happens to be one drug that got caught red-handed.

Why do we seek to immediately BLAME somebody else at every wrong turn? Babies are born every day with terrible health issues that are not and cannot be linked to a specific reason.

Isn’t a pregnant woman responsible for EVERYTHING she chooses to put into her body, especially drugs?

All SSRI drugs of this type have been over-presribed without thorough knowledge of the risk factors, thanks to drug reps who do most of the education of your doctors.

They shouldn’t just be facing damage awards – they should be facing criminal charges.

I’m glad the decision went in favour of the family here. But let’s remember that drug companies have bottomless pits of money to use for appealing these judgements. We’ll have to wait and see. They are also counting on the jury’s perception that all pregnant women have to take responsibility for every drug or substance they put into their bodies.

Why do we have to wait until the legal system corrects the problem however instead of regulators and govt being better at policing approvals in the 1st place?

Thanks for helping to bring this to our attention as consumers so we don’t just act like mindless trusting sheep.
